This is an example of the common Randall Hoard variety, but it's a nice, highly lustrous, mostly even brown, mark-free, and fairly well struck example. It has the usual flat stars and brow lock.
I bought this coin at the Summer 2006 Baltimore show. The dealer had two 1816s graded 64BN. This was the nicer, and more expensive of the two.
The 1816 cent constitutes a complete mint set for the date, as no other denominations were struck with that date. It strikes me as curious that only cents would be struck in the year following the only year since the US Mint was founded that no cents were struck. Such are the effects of war and fire...
