Coin Details

Origin/Country: United States
Design Description: HALF DIMES - SEATED LIBERTY, PROOF
Item Description: H10C 1863 Restrike
Full Grade: PCGS PF 66 CAMEO
Owner: Electric Peak

Owner Comments:

PCGS graded PR 66 Cam
Variety: Restrike - This silver coin was struck with the dies used to create the 1863-dated Judd 323 (copper) and Judd 324 (aluminum) "patterns", which were struck around 1871.

At a 2018 Baltimore Expo, I showed this coin to a prominent Liberty Seated dealer, who suggested I ask John Dannreuther about it. At the time, he said he believed it to be a regular 1863 proof, but reserved the right to change his mind. At the Seated Fest II (March 2019 Baltimore Expo), where I had it on display, he looked at it again and was more comfortable with the idea of it being a restrike.

Luster: TBD
