View Coin US Mint Type 3 1861 United States G$1 1861 NGC MS 61 A very nice Type III coin with good luster and a rich gold color, with only a few contact marks consistent with the grade, one of 527,150 minted (the ninth largest number minted of this denomination).
View Coin Fractional 1853 G$1 1853 BG-530 PCGS AU 58 California Fractional - A well struck orange-yellow privately minted California gold piece that was struck for circulation, through this example probably saw little usage. The obverse lady Liberty is nicely detailed and is surrounded by thirteen stars, while the reverse shows some weakness in the lettering. There is an “N” mint mark at the 6 o’clock position on the reverse showing it was minted by Antoine Louis Nouizillet.
View Coin Fractional 1863 United States G$1 "1863" OCTAG LIBERTY BG-1307 KROLL HOARD NGC MS 62 California Fractional - A coin that looks primative compared to the regular mint types, but with highly reflective fields, though weakly struck on reverse (from HA #1136-10035 Jan-2010)
View Coin Commemorative 1915-S Pan Pacific Expo United States SF Gold G$1 1915 S PANAMA-PACIFIC NGC MS 62 Commemorative - A nicely struck example of one of my favorite US Mint designs.
