scotty's gold's Bio
I began collecting coins 54 years ago by looking through my mom's change. I soon bought my first $5 gold coin (an 1882 in XF) for $22.50 with money saved from my paper route. I wandered away from coin collecting for a time, especially when I moved to England some 22 years later and got interested in stamps, particularly 19th century transatlantic covers. It wasn't until two years ago that I was smitten by the gold bug and I began collecting Saint Gaudens twenties and soon branched out to include ten dollar liberties. I am now interested in forming a type gold set, but the current run-up in the price of gold is putting a damper on this, though not on my enthusiasm for this hobby.
